For Lilla, traditional school just wasn’t cutting it. It felt boring, repetitive, and didn’t spark her creativity. In Term 4 of Year 11, she joined Knoei Colab to complete a Certificate IV in Entrepreneurship and New Business, looking for something different, something more inspiring than the usual school routine. And everything changed.
“I’ve learnt that I’m capable of more than I thought I was,” Lilla says.
Through Knoei Colab, Lilla has been exploring a self-tanning product idea, something she’s genuinely passionate about. She’s taken a deep dive into the practical side of product development, even visiting an organisation to learn about product formulations and the steps needed to bring her idea to life.
“Visiting Concept Labs was a huge eye-opener for me,” says Lilla. “The experience got me so excited. Getting to talk about my product idea and how it would come together helped put the theory into practice.”
What she loves most about Knoei Colab is its flexibility and creativity. Held after school and online every Wednesday, the program gives her the freedom to continue mainstream school as well.
“I still go to school during the week, so my classes aren’t impacted,” Lilla adds. “The creative freedom is so fun. We get to come up with any product idea we want, and it really feels like the sky’s the limit.”
With small group sessions and 1:1 support from her facilitator, Lilla has found a learning environment that works for her and nurtures her innovative spirit.
“It’s so different from mainstream school and I love that. It’s engaging because you spend time working on your own product idea, this is exciting, and it actually makes me want to learn,” she adds.
Lilla’s more inspired than ever and stepping into her future with confidence. Her experience with Knoei Colab has sparked a love for innovation and lifelong learning, opening doors to new possibilities beyond Year 12.
